Home Ownership

Why doesn't the Federal government create a program for people that are disabled and receiving SSA benefits to qualify and become a home owner. Regardless of the credit, Bank accounts etc. The "normal" lending practices wouldn't apply. It would be based on their benefit amount point blank. The monthly mortgage payment can be automatically deducted from their check. That's about the same as what a lot of us already pay ...more »

today's responses

Each time I call SS disability I find I have a different set of answers. It seems to be pot luck depending upon who answers the phone. Staff answering need to be aware of exact information they are providing callers. Waiting periods for disability benefits of 6 months only apply if the application is in its initial application...in other words first step of application. Once it hits reconsideration & the hearing phase, ...more »

Protective Payee Report

I have been the protective payee for my legally blind brother. He thinks that I am the best person in the world because I take care of him very well. I am a very busy person and tend to get the protective payee reports and sit them to the side for far longer than I should. Will there ever be a less invasive way to report, or will there ever come a time when the report is not mandated annually? Also, I think there are ...more »

Experian address wrong

To access the SSA web you must pass the Experian test.

If Experian thinks we still live at an Old address does that mean SSA thinks our address is still at the old address. The SSA wed will not show us what our current address is. This looks like a problem to me.

PROVIDE TWO SS CARDS

When I got a new Social Security Card because of a name change, I received only 1 card in the mail. It would be nice to have two cards - one to keep at home in a safe location and the other to carry with you when you need to carry one.
